COMMERCIAL & RETAIL
Polished concrete offers owners, property management, and tenants an easy to maintain, durable, and versatile flooring option. Owners and property managers have a one-time investment for a long-lasting yet attractive flooring option. In the event a new tenant prefers a different flooring option, it is easily covered just like a bare slab.
Overall Life Expectancy: 40 Years, or the life of the slab
Reseal/Re-burnish: 7-10 Years, depending on traffic
Stain and seal is another good option for most commercial spaces with low to moderate traffic. The installation cost is comparable to most commercial flooring options, with very low maintenance costs, and much more design possibilities.
Overall Life Expectancy: 10-15 Years, depending on traffic
Strip & Reseal: 3-5 Years, depending on traffic
INSTITUTIONAL
Institutional facilities include schools and universities, hospitals, and government facilities, among others. These buildings are typically high traffic and require a durable, long-lasting flooring option.
Polished concrete is an ideal option for most institutional buildings. It is extremely durable, long-lasting, and easy to maintain. The installation costs are competitive, and maintenance costs over 20+ years are less than half of most other flooring options.
Overall Life Expectancy: 30 Years, or the life of the slab
Reseal/Re-burnish: 5-7 Years, depending on traffic
While dye and seal can be used in an institutional setting and in most cases is a less expensive installed option, we do not recommend it except in very low-traffic areas of the building. Acrylic sealers have lower durability, they usually show traffic patterns, they require weekly waxing in high-traffic, and will need refinishing every few years. It may be a lower upfront cost, but it typically becomes a more expensive flooring option within 5 years.
Overall Life Expectancy: 7-10 Years, depending on traffic
Strip & Reseal: 2-3 Years, depending on traffic
Polished concrete originated in industrial buildings as an extremely durable, low maintenance flooring option. It also resists tire marks and traffic patterns from vehicles and heavy machinery. Many industrial buildings opt for a sealed floor due to the lower installation cost, but most owners and architects don't realize that a polished floor will actually save them money, usually within 5 years. It is much more durable, and does not require the maintenance a sealed floor does. Polished concrete installation costs are competitive with other flooring options, yet maintenance costs over 20+ years are less than half of most alternatives.
Overall Life Expectancy: 20-30 Years, or the life of the slab
Reseal/Re-burnish: 3-7 Years, depending on traffic

Acrylic sealers have lower durability, they usually show traffic patterns, they require weekly waxing in high-traffic, and will need refinishing every few years. In an industrial setting these maintenance and resealing processes can be disruptive to production and cause downtime. It may be a lower upfront cost, but it typically becomes a more expensive flooring option within 5 years.
Overall Life Expectancy: 6-9 Years, depending on traffic
Strip & Reseal: 2-3 Years, depending on traffic
INDUSTRIAL
Most aerospace buildings have the same flooring requirements as industrial buildings. They handle large machinery, vehicle, and aviation traffic, and require a low-maintenance flooring option that won't disrupt production for maintenance or replacement. Polished concrete offers all these benefits. It resists tire marks, and its smooth surface allows for easy movement of large vehicle and equipment.
Overall Life Expectancy: 20-30 Years, or the life of the slab
Reseal/Re-burnish: 3-7 Years, depending on traffic
